On Saturday, September 15, 2018 The Bentway and the New Museum present IdeasCity Toronto. This day-long event will bring together cultural innovators and creative practitioners from Toronto and beyond to reflect on Toronto as a City of Cities – a web of highly individual neighborhoods, united by a singular municipality.
The daylong exploration of strategies, ideas, and propositions will feature panel discussions, keynote lectures, workshops, conversations, and performances. Participants will include Rick Lowe, Sharifa Rhodes-Pitts, Adrienne Clarkson, Simone Browne, Sylvia McAdam Saysewahum, Anne Michaels, RISE Edutainment, Vanessa Brazeau, former mayor David Crombie, and emerging artists and community leaders from Toronto, among others.
IdeasCity Toronto will host conversations and interactive workshops on building access and equity within the Toronto arts community in collaboration with local and international artists and organizations including Betty Yu (New York), Colloqate Design (New Orleans), Myseum of Toronto, and Design Exchange. The day will also include a pitch session of bold ideas, designs, and strategies for reshaping the future city of Toronto in new and progressive ways.
IdeasCity Toronto will take place at The Bentway, a unique and innovative public space that transforms 1.75km underneath Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway into a new gathering place for the city.
