Join us for a special Family Day in conjunction with “Paul Ramírez Jonas: Half-Truths,” on view at the New Museum through September 17, 2017. Relying on the open-endedness of a one-on-one exchange, Ramírez Jonas’s exhibition and residency at the New Museum includes two pieces defined by direct transactions between the audience and the artist, Fake ID (2017) and Alternative Facts (2017). In Fake ID, kids and their parents are invited to collaboratively create a fake ID that merges their identities, while in Alternative Facts, families can turn their lies and fantasies into ostensibly truth-telling public documents. Families will then be invited to the Sky Room to collectively fashion new ID cards and elaborate their public “truths” with even more fantastical drawings!
New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children aged between four and twelve years, and includes free New Museum admission for up to two adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free. No preregistration is required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties
