First Saturdays for Families: Edible Paint Play

Join us for a workshop inspired by Carmen Argote’s avocado paintings from “As Above, So Below.” Drawing from Carmen Argote’s work, which often features natural materials, families will explore the possibilities of mark-making with food-based pigments. Using familiar fruits and vegetables, families are encouraged to reflect upon their own personal connections with each food during this multi-sensorial workshop.
Please be advised that materials from this workshop may stain clothes permanently. Please also note this workshop will expose participants to foods such as to berries, spinach, cabbage, turmeric, and coffee.
New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children aged between three and twelve years and includes free New Museum admission for three adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free. No preregistration required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties.
