First Saturdays for Families: Wind-Powered Sculptures

Join us to create a collaborative kinetic installation inspired by “Hans Haacke: All Connected.” Families will use materials such as balloons, fabric, and trim to create and install a sculptural element that will then be set in motion by oscillating fans in the Sky Room. Drawing from Haacke’s interest in wind as a medium, families are encouraged to experiment with materials of various weights. Participants will be able to see their creations dance and float in the air.
New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children aged between four and twelve years and includes free New Museum admission for two adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free. No preregistration required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties.
